GOODYEAR FIA ETRC AT THE IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 IN HANNOVER

The Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) is gearing up for the IAA Transportation 2024, where the world's leading minds in transportation and logistics will meet.

Together with the ADAC Mittelrhein and championship partners Goodyear, Iveco, Alcoa and Ford, the Goodyear FIA ETRC brings the excitement of truck racing to the IAA. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the stars of the championship, including six-time European Champion Jochen Hahn. They can also get up close to the 1,000-horsepower race trucks on the show grid and get autographs from the drivers.

Throughout the weekend, visitors will be able to test their skills in an exciting tyre-changing competition, go head-to-head with others and get a behind-the-scenes look at the teams. TV presenter Lina van de Mars will host an engaging motorsport programme throughout the event.

Leveraging the powerful platform of truck racing and the positive emotions of the sport, the Goodyear FIA ETRC is in a unique position to not only drive forward the conversation about sustainability and innovation in heavy goods vehicle transport, but also to positively influence the necessary changes within the industry.

Truck Racing is more than just a sport; the Goodyear FIA ETRC also serves as a leading platform for sustainable technologies in the road haulage industry, promoting the development and acceptance of alternative technologies.

The championship has been at the forefront of sustainable motorsport. Since 2021, all race trucks have been powered by 100% sustainable HVO from TotalEnergies, with the Iveco pace trucks running on bio-LNG. The Goodyear FIA ETRC is open to all technologies and energy sources.

Since 2023, the technical regulations allow fully electric and hybrid powertrains alongside the current generation of combustion engine race trucks, putting the championship in a unique position to drive innovation across the board.

The commercial vehicle industry faces significant challenges, including a growing shortage of truck drivers and an urgent need for sustainable technologies. The Goodyear FIA ETRC is taking a leading role in sustainability, promoting the acceptance of new technologies, enhancing the truck driving profession and making a positive contribution to the truck driver shortage in Europe.

"Truck Racing unites and connects hundreds of thousands of truck fans,” says ETRA Managing Director Georg Fuchs. “Thanks to the positive emotions generated by the sport, we can increase the acceptance of sustainable solutions among customers and end users, the professional truck drivers, and positively influence the necessary changes in the industry," says ETRA Managing Director Georg Fuchs.

"We can show that new developments and technologies work reliably under the extreme conditions of motorsport and contribute to the understanding of new technologies and their acceptance in everyday life on the road.”
