KISS CONTINUES QUALIFYING DOMINANCE
Norbert Kiss has taken another pole position in 2024, denying Jochen Hahn a front of the grid start in front of his home crowd.
The six Titan drivers made it through to Q3 to battle out for overall pole position. Although Hahn had tried to deny Kiss, taking the fastest lap of Q1, he didn’t have enough to deny the Hungarian continuing his pole position streak. The 1:53.992 was 0.8s fastest than the challenge time from Hahn.
Sascha Lenz made it two home favourites in the top three, setting the third fastest lap time of Q3. He will be joined by Antonio Albacete on the second row for Race 1 tomorrow morning.
André Kursim beat Steffi Halm but a tenth of a second to take fifth, the pair filling out the third row.
Lukas Hahn gave the home crowd something to cheer about by taking the Chrome class pole position. Not progressing through Q2, Hahn was the fastest of the eliminated to give him the top of the class start position.
Chrome-class leader José Eduardo Rodrigues came back from his Zolder disappointment, failing to take part in any of Sunday’s running in Belgium due to an engine failure, to take second in class, eighth overall. He led class rival Steffen Faas who will start third in class, ninth overall, after having his fastest lap time deleted due to track limits in Q2.
The battle of the Brits saw Mark Taylor coming out on top to take fourth in class, whilst third-in-Chrome rival John Newell failed to progress out of Q1. Returning to the Goodyear FIA ETRC Jonathan André and Clemens Hecker will split the pair for tomorrow’s race.
Luis Recuenco, Bradley Smith and Luke Garrett rounded up the sixteen-strong field, Garrett once again suffering steering issues during free practice that put him on the back foot.
