Don’t Touch Racing debuts two trucks at the Nürburgring

German team launches two-truck initiative to foster next generation truck racing talent

As part of their ambitious plan to permanently run two trucks by 2025, Don’t Touch Racing is using their home race at the Nürburgring as a testing ground. This trial involves setting up for two trucks, expanding the team and testing a potential future driver.

Following a recommendation of another team, Don’t Touch Racing has enlisted Bradley Smith, a promising young driver, who already had one outing in the Goodyear FIA ETRC as a race-by-race entry at the season opener in Misano. Bradley brings with him his own MAN truck, the former truck of Steffi Halm from Team Reinert. After the race in Zolder two weeks ago, his truck was brought up to FIA standards by the team in Berlin, ready for its debut under the Don't Touch Racing banner.

"We're excited to see what Bradley can do," said team owner Sven Walter. "Our expectations are largely hopes, as we don’t know the truck and didn't have enough time to test run it. Still, we believe in his potential and hope he can finish all the races, maybe even break into the top 10."

Sven Walter, who runs a successful logistics business in Germany, is committed to providing opportunities for young people. In his company, he has created an extensive program to train young truck drivers. His dedication to nurturing talent is evident in both his business and his racing team, highlighting his ambition to support the next generation in every aspect of his work.

He knows that financial constraints often make it difficult for new talent to enter the sport on their own. By expanding to two trucks, Don't Touch Racing aims to create more opportunities for these drivers to showcase their skills and gain valuable experience.

André Kursim, the team’s seasoned driver, will be mentoring Bradley, sharing his experience and the team will be carrying out comprehensive data comparisons to optimise the performance of the truck and both drivers.

Don't Touch Racing's initiative at the Nürburgring is a significant step towards their goal of nurturing the next generation of truck racers. By providing young drivers with the resources and support they need, the team is helping to ensure a bright future for the sport.
