Halm thankful following Goodyear Wingfoot Award success in FIA ETRC
Steffi Halm said that becoming the sixth recipient of the Goodyear Wingfoot Award was confirmation that “people like what I’m doing”.
Halm topped the fan vote ahead of Bradley Smith and José Eduardo Rodrigues following her performances across the 24 Heures Camions weekend at Le Mans, which hosted the penultimate round of the 2026 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship.
The IVECO-powered German driver, a race winner at Autodrom Most earlier this season, received 54 per cent of the vote as Smith finished second with 26 per cent and Rodrigues third on 20 per cent.
After being presented with the Goodyear Wingfoot Award on the famous Le Mans podium by Davide Califano, Head of Brand and Value Proposition Marketing, Commercial EMEA at Goodyer, Halm said: “It’s always great. For sure I’m driving but I’m not the one who votes and it’s a really, really great pleasure for me to have the most votes. I think the people like what I’m doing so thank you very much to everybody who voted for me.”
Halm was nominated for the latest Goodyear Wingfoot Award after she set a season-best fourth-fastest time in Qualifying 1-2-3 before she resisted intense pressure to beat Sascha Lenz to third place in Race 1. She then scored points in the remaining four races to hold sixth place in the provisional standings heading to the Jarama season finale this weekend.
With the Goodyear Wingfoot Award also presented in the FIA World Endurance Championship and British Touring Car Championship, Halm was one of three winners over the weekend.
Tom Fleming won the Goodyear Wingfoot Award following the FIA World Endurance Championship-counting 6 Hours of Fuji in Japan, while Mikey Doble, Tom Ingram, Aiden Moffat, Dexter Patterson and Ash Sutton were the nominees following the British Touring Car Championship races at Silverstone in the UK with the winner due to be announced shortly.
What is the Goodyear Wingfoot Award
Already presented in several major series, including the FIA World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series and the British Touring Car Championship, the Goodyear Wingfoot Award recognises driver performance and achievement in the Goodyear FIA ETRC.
At each of the seven Goodyear FIA ETRC events, a panel of experts from the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, and Goodyear will nominate three drivers following Race 3, based on their overall performance during the race weekend, their sporting behaviour and highlights on track. Fans will then be able to vote for their driver of the weekend via Instagram from the shortlist of candidates during Race 4.
The winner is announced as part of the live broadcast coverage of Race 4 and presented with the Goodyear Wingfoot Award on the final podium.
Norbert Kiss was the winner of the inaugural Goodyear Wingfoot Award at the Misano season opener with Sascha Lenz topping the public vote at the Slovakia Ring before Jochen Hahn was chosen for the special recognition at the Nürburgring in July ahead of his son Lukas Hahn winning at Autodrom Most last month. John Newell then received the award at Circuit Zolder two weeks ago.
Based on Goodyear’s iconic winged-foot logo, which is inspired by the Roman god Mercury, the Goodyear Wingfoot Award is designed to further engage fans throughout the season, while highlighting performances and moments that reflect the sporting values of the Goodyear FIA ETRC.
