Revealed: The strategy Reinert deployed to beat Hahn in Goodyear FIA ETRC

René Reinert excelled to fend off six-time champion Jochen Hahn in their battle for the runner-up spot in the second of four Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship counters at Circuit Zolder in Belgium last weekend.

MAN-powered Reinert resisted intense pressure from IVECO-driving Hahn and crossed the line 0.425s ahead of his fellow German as Sascha Lenz took victory.

“Jochen tried to make me nervous, but I am happy I did not make a bigger mistake on the brakes to keep hold of second place,” Reinert said.

Asked how he managed to keep Hahn behind, Reinert said: “You cannot think too much, you have to stay focused watching in the front and really don’t think much about mistakes but how you can do things right, this is more important and makes the difference.”

Hahn added: “René made a fantastic job, I found no place to overtake in the last laps.”
