WIN 14 FOR KISS AS TAYLOR TAKES CHROME GLORY

Norbert Kiss avoided early race contact to take his 14th victory of the season whilst Mark Taylor managed a perfect lights-to-flag Chrome class win.

All had been looking for another Kiss versus Jochen Hahn drag to the first corner as lights went green for the first race at Most this weekend, when it almost came to a quick conclusion for the championship leaders. Just behind, André Kursim found himself up on three wheels as contact with Sascha Lenz on the inside pitched the truck up. The incident saw Kursim dashing across the gravel trap at Turn 1, looking to be pitching straight back on track to where Kiss was making progress down towards Turn 3. Some expert control saw the German manage to bring the truck to a safe slowdown, avoiding making contact with anyone as he rejoined the pack.

The incident saw Kursim drop down to the back of the grid, a position he would try to move up from throughout the 12 laps of racing. Unfortunately, damage to his truck meant Kursim could only make it up to 10th overall, gaining just three places, but at least still scoring in the overall standings.

After nearly having his race ended before it began, Kiss drove on to complete another textbook victory, adding to his points total and championship lead ahead of second-placed Hahn. Lenz recovered from the early incident with Kursim, deemed a racing incident by the stewards, to take another third-place finish, making his own position in the overall championship more comfortable. Steffi Halm in fourth rounded off the top Titan finishers.

Taylor had a fairly quiet drive to his Chrome victory, edging closer to Steffen Faas in the championship standings with his first class win of the season. He crossed the line three seconds ahead of Chrome championship leader José Eduardo Rodrigues to take the win comfortably.

For Rodrigues, the race was much harder having to fight through the other Chrome drivers to get back in podium contention.

Luis Recuenco was dispatched of in the opening stages of the race, but John Newell was not letting go of second in class easily. It took Rodrigues until the tenth lap of the race to finally pass the Brit, by which time Taylor’s advantage was too big to close in on in the final moments of the race.

Newell took third in class, seventh overall, and will share the front row of Race Two with reverse pole sitter Antonio Albacete.

The Spaniard was caught up in the Lenz/Kursim incident at the beginning of the race, losing a tonne of positions and picking up some damage. This saw progress back up the field almost impossible for the Spaniard, lwho will be looking for a better Race Two this afternoon.

Faas was the final overall points scorer in ninth ahead of Kursim who completed the top ten.

Recuenco crossed the line 11th ahead of Bradley Smith and Clemens Hecker who had a small issue at the start of the race seeing him briefly in the pits.
