Luke Garrett Revs Up for Full Season Debut
The Goodyear FIA ETRC welcomes a seasoned contender to its ranks, as Luke Garrett gears up for his first full season in the championship. Son of former British truck racing champion and FIA Delegate, Ross Garrett, Luke's pedigree in motorsport runs deep, marked by notable achievements and a passion inherited from his late father.
Luke's journey in truck racing began at a young age, accompanying his father to races in the European Truck Racing Championship, igniting a lifelong fascination with the sport.
In his first competitive year in 2015, he clinched the title of Rookie of the Year and secured a commendable runner-up position in the British Truck Racing Championship.
Luke claimed consecutive titles in the 2018 and 2019 British Truck Racing Championship Division 2, and another title in 2022, showcasing his skill behind the wheel.
Garrett first stepped onto the Goodyear FIA ETRC grid in 2021, when he took part in several rounds as a race-by-race entry, demonstrating promising performances and clinching a podium in the Promoter’s Cup.
Reflecting on his decision to pursue a full season in the Goodyear FIA ETRC he said: ”The inspiration is always to do better. We’ve won Division two in the UK three times and my next goal is to make a mark in the European Championship.”
With Nexustruck coming on board as the title sponsor, Luke's aspiration of competing in the Goodyear FIA ETRC became a reality.
Preparations for the season have been in full swing and a new engine is arriving just in time for the start of the season. "I built a new truck last year to compete in the British Championship Division One and we went to Donnington with it," explains Luke. "Although it's a brand-new truck, we needed to make some adjustments to comply with European series regulations. We’ve been busy building the spares package and assembling the truck ready for Misano.”
As the Garrett Trucksport team embark on their new chapter, Luke is ready to showcase his potential on the track, with his sight set on a top-three position in the Chrome class championship.
