Kiss at the double with Most Goodyear FIA ETRC Race 3 triumph

His triumph in Race 3 came after he held off fast starter Antonio Albacete braking for Turn 1 before he was able to pull clear and triumph by 6.011s.

Jochen Hahn piled extensive pressure on Albacete in the battle for the runner-up spot, but Spaniard Albacete resisted his German rival’s advances to prevail by 0.026s and confirm his return to form after contact led to two non-scores in Saturday’s races.

Behind Sascha Lenz, Mark Taylor secured the Chrome category honours in Czech Republic for the first time this weekend in fifth overall, one place ahead of fellow Briton and points rival John Newell.

Home hero Adam Lacko was at his defensive best to fend off Steffi Halm in their battle for seventh. Although Halm was unable to get ahead of the 2017 ETRC champion, her eighth-place finish secured pole position for Race 4, which uses a partially-reversed grid.

“A good race, a good start,” said Hungarian Kiss, who drives a MAN for Révész Racing. “Antonio was very close for sure. But we were level at the braking zone, and I could brake a bit later and enter the first chicane better so I was clear in front, and I started to build a gap. Just like yesterday we could do it again and the pace was good. The tyres could hold up very well and the truck was working very well, so I just had to watch out not to make a mistake or not to do an over-speed or whatever. It was good, a confident victory and a good job from the Révész Racing team yet again so thank you to them.”

Chrome winner Taylor said: “We had a good start. Turn 1 was a bit ropey going in three wide, but at least everyone came out of it. It was a good race. I was not 100 per cent happy with the truck, we had a few lock-ups and that cost me a lot of time so I need to work on that to sort the issue out. But, overall, I’m well happy with the result.”

José Eduardo Rodrigues took ninth with Lukas Hahn hitting back from contact at Turn 1 to finish 10^th and third in Chrome having started from the class pole.

The outright Race 2 winner said: “I had Mark [Taylor] at the left side, I don’t have the space so I moved out on the gravel. I don’t know why, I think there was a third truck next to him and, in the end, it’s not so good. We are not happy, but the truck is okay, there is nothing broken, it’s fine, P10 and P3 in the Chrome category so all is fine, we keep going.”

Steffen Faas finished a strong 11^th with Luke Garrett in 12^th and Bradley Smith 13^th after contact with René Reinert, who was handed a 10-second penalty and classified 15^th behind Emma Mäkinen. Christian Ruppert completed the finishers in 16^th as Luis Recuenco stopped with a mechanical issue after eight lap of the 11-lap contest.

Following Race 3, the Goodyear Wingfoot Award nominated Lukas Hahn, Newell and Rodrigues for the public vote with fans able to choose the winner on Instagram during Race 4.
