Hahn raises home hopes in Goodyear FIA ETRC Free Practice 1

Jochen Hahn is back on form in the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship after he went second quickest in Free Practice 1 for round three of the season at the Nürburgring this afternoon.

The German hero, a six-time FIA ETRC champion, was all set to top the 30-minute session in a time of 1m54.433s only for MAN-driving championship leader Norbert Kiss to better his effort by 0.006s on his last lap.

Although Hahn missed on the fastest time, his performance served as a timely boost for the IVECO-powered driver following a troubled trip to Slovakia last month where he posted two DNFs and one DNS.

Behind second-placed Hahn, Antonio Albacete went third quickest, Lukas Hahn was fourth fastest and the top Chrome driver with Sascha Lenz and José Eduardo Rodrigues completing the top six.

Steffi Halm was seventh fastest, Bradley Smith eighth quickest, as René Reinert and Adam Lacko completed the top 10.

Lacko, the 2017 FIA ETRC champion, is making his return to the Goodyear-supported series at the Nürburgring after a three-year break. Having previously raced a Buggyra with its distinctive ‘bonnet’ design, the Czech star has switched to a more traditional ‘box’-shape IVECO race truck for his eagerly anticipated comeback.

Steffen Faas, Clemens Hecker, John Newell, Luke Garrett and Stefan Kursch rounded out the Free Practice 1 top 15 followed by Jonathan André, Luis Recuenco and Emma Mäkinen. Mark Taylor, the 2025 Chrome champion, did not record a lap time, while Recuenco brought out the red flags when he stopped on track earlier in the session.

Free Practice 2 is next from 08:00 local time tomorrow (Friday). Click HERE for live timing. All results are available via the Sportity app using the password: FIA_ETRC_26.
