FIA ETRC legend Hahn: Goodyear Wingfoot Award makes me very proud

Jochen Hahn spoke of his pride after fans voted him as the winner of the Goodyear Wingfoot Award for round three of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship, which took place at the Nürburgring last weekend.

The six-time champion, who twice finished on the podium at his home event driving a Team Hahn Racing-run IVECO, was chosen by fans ahead of Antonio Albacete and Bradley Smith.

“It’s coming from the fans and this makes me very proud, it’s good,” said Hahn, who also receives six of Goodyear's new-for-2026 tyre, which is manufactured from 60 per cent sustainable materials.

“The weekend was not really good, but not really bad. It was not really a mistake [in Race 4] but for the crash in the second corner you must make a decision, left or right and I do it right and I’m 12 or 11 position and Norbi has won, lucky or unlucky. In the end for us it was technical problems, we go home and we come back. A small technical problem, it can be fixed in the box and then I go out for the fans to make a show and enjoy.”

Hahn’s podium brace in Germany has increased his points total to 89. He’ll head into the summer break fourth in the provisional Goodyear FIA ETRC standings.

What is the Goodyear Wingfoot Award
Already presented in several major series, including the FIA World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series and the British Touring Car Championship, the Goodyear Wingfoot Award recognises driver performance and achievement in the Goodyear FIA ETRC.

At each of the seven Goodyear FIA ETRC events, a panel of experts from the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, and Goodyear will nominate three drivers following Race 3, based on their overall performance during the race weekend, their sporting behaviour and highlights on track. Fans will then be able to vote for their driver of the weekend via Instagram from the shortlist of candidates during Race 4.

The winner is announced as part of the live broadcast coverage of Race 4 and presented with the Goodyear Wingfoot Award on the final podium. Norbert Kiss was the winner of the Goodyear Wingfoot Award at the Misano season opener with Sascha Lenz topping the public vote at the Slovakia Ring last month.

Based on Goodyear’s iconic winged-foot logo, which is inspired by the Roman god Mercury, the Goodyear Wingfoot Award is designed to further engage fans throughout the season, while highlighting performances and moments that reflect the sporting values of the Goodyear FIA ETRC.
