Albacete hoping luck changes in Goodyear FIA ETRC

Following a troubled Qualifying 1-2-3 on Friday, the multiple ETRC champion had to make to with a 12^th place in Race 1 and 13^th in Race 2 following contact with rival drivers.

“We had no luck yesterday, nothing at all,” the T Sport Bernau driver said. “The first one was just in the start when Jochen [Hahn] broke my rear tyre so I have just five tyres and it was no good because this one is the one you have for all corners and you need these tyres for this circuit. The second one I start, I was going up but then Bradley [Smith] go outside the track and he come back and just touched me on the rear and had a big, big spin and just go off and get last, it’s a shame.”

Albacete gave himself an excellent chance of a strong Race 3 by qualifying second in Q6.

“It was good, we have not the problems we had yesterday,” he said. “I just try in Q6 to do all my best because we had a good set-up and, this morning, we did a good time. I’m happy because the team worked well and we have a good truck. We will see now for the pace in the race, it’s going to be close because we are all very tight.”

Of his Friday qualifying woe, Albacete explained: “It was because of the rain and because we had something different on the truck. I started to have some understeer and that made me lose a bit of time and it was a shame because we could be also there in the top three [on Friday]. Anyway, races are races so we hope today we have a good day.”
