Smith, Faas top Chrome order in Goodyear FIA ETRC Free Practice 1
Bradley Smith and Steffen Faas have completed Free Practice 1 as the Chrome drivers to beat in the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship.
While seven-time Goodyear FIA ETRC champion Norbert Kiss set the outright pace at the Slovakia Ring this morning, Smith and Faas were quickest in the category for drivers with less experience and fewer top results in the all-action championship from Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide.
Smith’s 2m43.753s effort was ultimately faster than the 2m43.899s recorded by Faas as the Briton continued his strong start to the season in his new-for-2026 MAN.

John Newell was third in Chrome followed by Luke Garrett and reigning champion Mark Taylor. Luis Recuenco, who is giving his all-new Mercedes-Benz its debut at Slovakia Ring followed with Clemens Hecker completing the order.
After topping Friday’s practice in a standout 2m41.630s, Norbert Kiss was again fastest of all in a time of 2m42.124s, 0.400s quicker than Jochen Hahn. René Reinert was third with Steffi Halm and Antonio Albacete giving chase.
Behind Smith, José Eduardo Rodrigues was seventh quickest ahead of Faas and Sascha Lenz.
