Newell closes up but Taylor remains on top in Chrome Goodyear FIA ETRC battle

Mark Taylor’s pursuit of back-to-back Chrome titles in the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship remains on course following an action-packed weekend at Autodrom Most – but John Newell is just three points behind with three events left.

After Newell banked his first win of 2026 in Race 1 and Lukas Hahn triumphed in Race 2 by winning outright, Taylor returned to form on Sunday with a victory double.

Following his Race 4 victory in Czech Republic, Taylor said: “We had a good, clean start, we spread out then all of a sudden bunched back up together, so it was a bit cat and mouse. But the track has come back good, everyone’s happy, the sponsor and the team. A good weekend.”

Race 1 winner Newell said: “We made a little change to the truck to try something, it didn’t work, but we held our position, there was no point fighting with Jochen [Hahn] because we wanted the Chrome points and I’m happy with what we’ve got. Winning Chrome was the objective and I’m not thinking about anything else. It was a good clean start and that was key.”

Hahn, who beat Newell to the Goodyear Wingfoot Award by one vote in a super-close public vote: “Pole position and a start-to-finish victory. I’m really happy, the team made a really good job and we had the pace.”
