Champion Kiss fastest in Goodyear FIA ETRC Slovakia practice

Norbert Kiss set the benchmark time as the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship resumed at the Slovakia Ring today (Thursday).

Less than a week on from the Misano season opener, 11 drivers took to the 5.922-kilometre layout with reigning champion Kiss going quickest ahead of long-term Goodyear FIA ETRC rivals Jochen Hahn and Antonio Albacete.

The Hungarian’s 2m41.630s effort eclipsed the fastest lap recorded in the Goodyear FIA ETRC at Slovakia Ring last season, a 2m41.818s clocked by Kiss during Saturday Warm-up.

Bradley Smith was the fastest Chrome contender in sixth place behind Titan drivers René Reinert and Steffi Halm, who were fourth and fifth quickest respectively.

Luke Garrett, Mark Taylor and John Newell followed with Luis Recuenco (below) giving his all-new Mercedes-Benz its Goodyear FIA ETRC debut with the 10th quickest time. Clemens Hecker finished the 30-minute session in 11thplace.

The 11 drivers who took part in Free Practice earned the right to do so after they provided passenger riders to local VIPs and media during two sessions earlier today.

Free Practice 1 is up next from 09:10 local time tomorrow (Saturday). The results of today’s practice session are available HERE.
