Hahn Jr proves heroic in Goodyear FIA ETRC Chrome battle
Norbert Kiss wasn’t the only driver to win three times when the 2026 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship got under way at Misano World Circuit last weekend.
Lukas Hahn also left the Italian victory with three victories to his name following success in the Chrome category for drivers with less experience and fewer top overall results.
After winning once on Saturday, the IVECO-powered German bagged a pair of firsts on Sunday to open up an 11-point lead over John Newell.
However, with Hahn only planning selected appearances in 2026 in line his race-by-race entry status, it’s Briton Newell who essentially holds the title initiative after round one after he scored a second and two thirds across the Misano weekend.
“It was a really good weekend,” Newell said. “Yesterday we had one not-so-good result, but, at the end of the day, a very good result. Today’s results were also good so a good weekend.”

After winning the Chrome category in Race 1, Hahn was forced to retire from Race 2 with a brake issue. But he rebounded in style to add Chrome wins in Race and Race 4.
Hahn said: “We've had a good pace this weekend and I'm really happy and proud of my team. My next stop [for now] will be at the Nürburgring.
Stefan Kursch and Steffen Faas finished second and third in Chrome in Race 1 with Kursch going one better in Race 2, taking the laurels after Hahn’s DNF and Bradley Smith’s exclusion following technical checks. Newell and defending champion Mark Taylor completed the Race 2 Chrome podium.
Smith finished second to Hahn in Race 3 followed by Newell, who capitalised on an electrical issue for Taylor in the closing stages. With rapid repairs made, Taylor was able to line up for Race 4, which he finished second in class ahead of Newell.

Race 2 winner Kursch said: “Thanks to the reverse grid we started from third and I'm very happy with my result. It was absolutely flawless.”
Newell finished fourth in Race 1 ahead of Jonathan André, Taylor, Luke Garrett and Smith.
Clemens Hecker was fourth in Race 2 behind the top three of Kursch, Newell and Taylor. André was the only other Chrome finisher.
Behind the top three of Hahn, Smith and Newell in Race 3 were Faas, André, Garrett, Kursch and Taylor.
In Race 4 Faas finished fourth podium finishers Hahn, Taylor and Newell with Faas, Kursch, Smith and Garrett next up.
