Goodyear FIA ETRC promoter ACHIEVES FIA THREE-STAR ENVIRONMENTAL ACCREDITATION

ETRA Promotion is proud to announce it has received the prestigious FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation, the highest level of environmental sustainability recognition from the governing body, for its sustainability efforts in the Goodyear FIA ETRC.

The FIA’s three-level Environmental Accreditation Programme helps motorsport and mobility stakeholders worldwide to measure and improve their environmental performance.

ETRA’s environmental performance was audited by an independent FIA-appointed auditor with International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) experience, based on best practices in environmental sustainability and management, continuously improving existing processes and procedures and laying the foundations for operating in a sustainably way.

RECOGNITION FOR SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS

The audit report highlighted the championship’s efforts in promoting sustainability in truck racing, showcasing a diverse range of sustainable technologies, alternative powertrains and fuels. It also emphasised fostering environmental knowledge among race teams and working with stakeholders, partners and event organisers to improve the environmental performance of events.

The promoter of the Goodyear FIA ETRC now joins a small number of motorsport series, teams and events that have achieved the highest level of certification from the FIA.

“We are incredibly proud to have achieved the FIA’s Three-Star Environmental Accreditation in recognition of our sustainability efforts in the Goodyear FIA ETRC,” said Barbara Proske, Head of Communications and ESG. “This achievement is the latest step in our sustainability transition journey as we continue to implement actions to reduce our environmental impact.”

Georg Fuchs, ETRA Managing Director added: “The FIA Three-Star Environmental accreditation validates our efforts and underscores the collective commitment and shared strive for sustainability with our long-standing partners, local organisers - many of whom also hold environmental accreditations -, our dedicated race teams and the FIA.”

Marek Nawarecki, FIA Senior Circuit Sport Director said: “The FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme allows the FIA to measure sustainability across motor sport and encourage different stakeholders to enhance their environmental performance.”

“Goodyear FIA ETRC has made significant progress in that field over the last couple of years and I am pleased that it has achieved the highest possible environmental standard set out by the FIA. This is yet another positive development within truck racing that is related to sustainability, after the switch to 100% sustainable biofuel and later opening up the technical regulations of the series to accommodate different power sources.”

LEADING THE WAY IN SUSTAINABLE MOTORSPORT

The Goodyear FIA ETRC has been at the forefront of sustainable motorsport, having been the first ever motorsport series to switch to 100% sustainable fuel in 2021, significantly reducing its carbon emissions by up to 90% over the entire cycle from well to wheel.

This transition to HVO biodiesel marked a pivotal milestone in the championship's pursuit of sustainability and innovation, underscoring its commitment to serving as a leading platform for sustainable technologies in the road haulage industry and driving forward the acceptance of alternative technologies.

The Championship is open to any kind of technology and allows different power trains and sources on the same grid, placing it in a unique position to advance innovation. Hydrogen is set to become a significant power source in the commercial vehicle sector and therefore an official FIA hydrogen working group has been established.

The Goodyear FIA ETRC is committed to taking a leading role in driving forward this transformative technology in motorsport.

Title partner Goodyear has recently also received the prestigious Three-Star FIA Environmental Accreditation, which covers the Goodyear FIA ETRC tyres produced in Luxembourg. This recognition underscores Goodyear's unwavering commitment to sustainability and reflects their continuous efforts to lead the industry with environmentally responsible practices.
