BACK ON POLE FOR NORBERT KISS
Norbert Kiss has started the Slovakia Ring weekend with a pole position, ready to lead the pack away for Race 1 this afternoon.
With 12 drivers on track this weekend, only two were dropped from Super Pole. The new Brits to the full time grid Mark Newell and John Taylor will start 11th and 12th respectively.
All eyes were on Kiss, Antonio Albacete, Jochen Hahn and Sasha Lenz when Super Pole began, as the quartet were all within half a second of each other after the first 20 minutes of qualifying.
It was close at the chequered flag, with Kiss’ 2:42.563 only beating Hahn to pole by 0.054s. Albacete just missed out on the front row by two tenths of a second with Lenz fourth.
Returning Jamie Anderson, who missed the first round in Misano, starts fifth ahead of Promoter’s Cup Pole Sitter José Eduardo Rodrigues. Rodrigues continues the strong form he showed in Misano with another class pole and top ten start.
André Kursim and Steffi Halm complete the fourth row, finishing the Titan classification as Steffen Faas and Luis Recuenco take ninth and tenth respectively, second and third in Promoter’s Cup.
The first race of the weekend gets underway at 13:30 CEST.
