LENZ holds off a charging Kiss to take race 1 win at Zolder
Sascha Lenz took a rocket start as he raced past pole sitter Norbert Kiss and took over the lead of the race. The German got himself a bit of space from Kiss, however towards the second half of the race, the Hungarian driver turned up the heat and was looking for ways past his championship rival. Lenz defended well, making his MAN as wide as possible and took the chequered flag in the first race of the day.
Behind them it was a rather uneventful race. Adam Lacko, who started from fourth, had a great getaway when the lights went green, and got past Antonio Albacete. The pair settled into the race and crossed the line in third and fourth respectively.
For Promoter’s Cup pole sitter Téo Calvet it was a quiet race, as he crossed the line to take the category win. His main title rival Jamie Anderson, made quick work of Jochen Hahn and tried his best to close the gap to the Frenchman, he never got close enough though to challenge for the win.
Steffen Faas and Shane Brereton completed the top ten, with the former taking third place in the Promoter’s Cup.
All fourteen trucks finished the race, with José Eduardo Rodrigues leading Steffi Halm, Clemens Hecker and Jonathan André across the line.
