How Newell’s overtakes have kept Goodyear FIA ETRC Chrome battle close

John Newell’s overtaking heroics in the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship have kept the battle for the 2026 Chrome title tightly poised ahead of the series resuming at Autodrom Most this weekend.

Newell made up four places in Race 1 at the Nürburgring last month as he progressed from 13^th on the grid to ninth before he charged through from ninth to fourth in Race 4.

The points scored at the German venue means he will line up in Czech Republic seven points behind defending champion and fellow Briton Mark Taylor.

“It’s going to be tight and it’s good for everybody,” Newell said of the Chrome title chase.
