KISS WINS DRAMATIC MOST RACE ONE

Extending his championship lead, Norbert Kiss conducted another lights-to-flag victory ahead of a dramatic race behind him.

In what is becoming typical Norbert Kiss style in 2022, the Hungarian driver added another victory to his campaign in dominate style.

Jochen Hahn had put the pressure on into the first corner, looking like he had the inside line going into Turn 1, but late braking saw Kiss hang on around the outside. It quickly became irrelevant however, as Steffen Faas and Steffi Halm came together, bringing out the red flag. Halm was able to rejoin the grid after pitting for replacement tyres but Faas suffered too much damage to continue.

On the second start, Kiss was prepared for Hahn’s attack and held the German driver behind him. It didn’t take long for the race winner to become a red dot in the distance, crossing the line almost four seconds ahead of Hahn.

Sascha Lenz claimed the last step of the podium after Antonio Albacete’s MAN caught fire, dropping oil through Turns 4-6. The truck came to a halt at Turn 7, where, for the remaining four laps of the race, it was under yellow flags for the stricken #23.

Adam Lacko finished fourth ahead of teammate Téo Calvet, who took advantage of damage Jamie Anderson had suffered in the opening few laps to take the Promoter’s Cup win. Anderson and José Rodrigues, who took the bottom step of the Promoter’s Cup podium, followed Calvet across the line, with Lukas Hahn just missing out on the class podium, and finishing eighth overall.

After her dramatic start to the race, Halm recovered to ninth ahead of Shane Brereton who completed the top ten.

Jonathan André finished 11th in his first Goodyear FIA ETRC race, with Andre Kursim being the only other finisher in 12th, after another issue plauged his race and dropped him out of the points.
