Goodyear, the title partner and official tyre supplier of the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship, has developed the new tyre in line with its ongoing commitment to increase tyre sustainability year on year in top‑level truck racing.

This process is being achieved through a close alliance with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) – the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide – with the new-for-2026 Goodyear tyre a further improvement on its previous truck racing tyre, which incorporated 55 per cent sustainable materials.

To underline the significance of this development, reaching the 60 per cent threshold qualifies the 2026 Goodyear truck racing tyre for the company’s internal two‑leaf sustainability recognition, an upgrade from the one‑leaf recognition awarded to the tyre used during the 2025 season, making it the truck tyre with the highest share of sustainable materials ever produced by Goodyear.

Goodyear uses carefully selected ingredients, such as silica produced from waste rice husk ash and carbon black sourced from alternative feedstocks, when manufacturing its new truck racing tyre. The company also retreads its racing tyres into truck tyres for use on the road, thereby avoiding the practice of disposing of racing tyres following rounds of the Goodyear FIA ETRC.

The new Goodyear truck racing tyre further emphasises the importance of sustainability in the ongoing success of the Goodyear FIA ETRC. In 2021, the Goodyear FIA ETRC became the first FIA-sanctioned motor sport series to switch to fully sustainable biofuel through a partnership with TotalEnergies, which supplies 100% renewable HVO to championship teams. Meanwhile, IVECO, introduced its electric S-eWay as the official Goodyear FIA ETRC pace truck in 2025 and remains a key partner of the series.

FIA Truck Racing Commission President Ignacio Fernandez said: “We are delighted to be working so closely with Goodyear, not only as a valued title partner and supplier, but as an organisation with sustainability at its heart. To be able to count on a tyre that incorporates 60 per cent sustainable materials and has been designed to meet the requirement of a single tyre type, able to perform consistently across a wide range of circuits and weather conditions, and one with improved durability to reduce tyre use without performance being compromised, is very significant for the Goodyear FIA ETRC and motor sport as a whole.”

Goodyear Global Racing Vice President Xavier Fraipont said: “Truck racing continues to be an important development platform for Goodyear. The Goodyear FIA ETRC’s learnings are translated from competition into tire technologies that support greater efficiency and sustainability for commercial truck fleets operating on the road every day.”

Goodyear’s association with European truck racing spans more than two decades, while it has served as title partner of the Goodyear FIA ETRC since 2022.
