SLOVAKIA RING PREVIEW
Round two of the season will see the racing titans return to the Slovakia Ring
Racing resumes this weekend for the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship, heading to the Slovakia Ring for the second round of the season. TCR Eastern Europe and MAXX FORMULA are joining the trucks on the Slovakian circuit for a full throttle weekend.
After a mixed weekend for reigning champion Norbert Kiss, Jochen Hahn leads Antonio Albacete in the overall championship following a strong round one. Both the German and Spaniard look like they’ve made impressive progress over the winter break and have started their campaign to challenge Kiss in a great way.
Sascha Lenz' opening round was a bit up and down, having got caught out during the first qualifying session and missing out on Super Pole. This had him playing damage limitation on the Saturday races, but Sunday saw the usual front runner back fighting at the front. He’ll be hoping for less of a rollercoaster of a weekend this time out.
André Kursim kept his name on the commentator’s lips by scoring a podium in Italy and will be looking to add more to his 2023 stats during the Slovakia weekend.
Having missed the first race after recently becoming a father, Jamie Anderson will be out on track this weekend, participating in his first Goodyear FIA ETRC race as a Titan driver. The bar was set high out in Misano with the competition tight, so Anderson will have to be straight onto the pace to make his mark on the field.
Favourites have started to appear in the Promoter’s Cup, with José Eduardo Rodrigues taking two class wins, two class podiums and one overall podium in Misano.
The rest of the Promoter’s challengers will need to reign him in and break his dominance before it stretches into a sustainable lead.
Track action will get underway Friday afternoon with the first practice sessions.
