T sport bernau the workshop never sleeps
With their goals achieved in 2021, a Top 5 Finish in the driver standings and winning the Team Championship, T Sport Bernau leave no stone unturned over the winter break to prepare for their 2022 campaign
“It's been a fantastic year for all of us here at T Sport Bernau,” said Tim Frost, the team’s technical manager and chief race mechanic. “We had some great results and some really promising developments throughout last season.”
Triple ETRC champion Antonio Albacete finished 5th in the 2021 driver standings, only 4 points behind 4th position.
The Spaniard stood on the podium seven times last year, including a double podium in front of his home crowd at Jarama. “We finished fifth in the ETRC and I think it was a very good effort from the whole team,” said Albacete.
Together with Révész Racing they also won the Team Championship, a respectable 146 points ahead of second placed ‘Die Bullen von Iveco’.
Season preparations are underway at the team’s workshop in Burscough, servicing the race truck and carrying out modifications, as well as preparing the tractor unit, race trailer and team equipment for the upcoming season, which will kick off in May in Misano, Italy.
The team produced a solid race truck last year, with a 100% technical reliability rate and not a single DNF across the 6 race weekends.
"We’re happy with the foundations of the truck and the right set up on the track will then make a difference,” said Frost.
The goal for 2022 is to defend the Teams championship title together with Révész Racing.
T Sport Bernau also made significant steps in their sustainability efforts and taken action and implemented measures to reduce their carbon footprint. Amongst other measures, the team has overhauled their logistics concept which now allows them to transport the entire team equipment and spare parts for several events in one single vehicle and the smart route and travel planning helps to avoid unnecessary road miles and fuel consumption.
The off season has also been busy away from the workshop, as Melanie and Tim welcomed their youngest team member Theo, who arrived in December.
Huge congratulations to the new parents!
