Season-ending Drama in Jarama Guaranteed
The 2022 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship comes to a close at Jarama in Madrid this weekend with a grand finale of more spectacular truck racing action expected to see out the season.
After Norbert Kiss took his fourth Goodyear FIA ETRC title at Le Mans last weekend, there are still two major battles set across Saturday and Sunday.
Kiss will be looking to add to his 14 wins this season and maintain his incredible statistics of winning at least one race in each event in 2022.
Looking to also seal more victories in Spain will be Jochen Hahn, who leads the running for the vice-champion title this season.
Sascha Lenz is chasing Hahn for the runners-up position, with the pair only 12 points apart.
Behind the top three in the standings is Adam Lacko, who didn’t make it onto the podium at Le Mans and will be eager to finish the season on a high.
There will be several other drivers to watch at Jarama, especially local hero Antonio Albacete, who will be pushing to get another win this season in front of his home fans.
German Iveco drivers Steffi Halm and André Kursim have both been on the podium this season already, and will be aiming to get their first win.
Promoter’s Cup title fight goes down to the wire
All eyes will be on the Promoter's cup battle between Téo Calvet and Jamie Anderson under the Spanish sun.
Calvet heads Anderson by 15 points, and with 60 points to play for, it could go in favour of either of the two top contenders.
Behind the two and out of the running for the title is Shane Brereton. After a great run at Le Mans, he will be looking to add to his victories in the last round of the season.
Steffen Faas and José Rodrigues will be looking to finally score a victory at Jarama, after having been on the podium regularly this season.
Clemens Hecker will be aiming to have as competitive a race as possible and getting onto the podium.
After making his ETRC debut last weekend, British driver John Newell will be on the grid again this weekend at Jarama, as well as Lion Truck Racing's Jonathan André.
