No stopping Norbi as Goodyear ETRC champion takes Misano pole
Reigning champion Norbert Kiss has banked the first pole position of the 2026 Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship season after he edged out his rivals at Misano World Circuit.
Competing in a Révész Racing MAN at the sunbaked Italian venue, the Hungarian secured top spot for Race 1 in 2m02.105s.
The seven-time title winner was 0.749s quicker than leading Chrome driver Lukas Hahn, who impressed in second place with IVECO power.
Antonio Albacete, who has three FIA ETRC crowns to his name, was third quickest in his newly built Team T Sport Bernau-entered MAN.
“It’s feeling very good and I’m very happy about the position but the session itself was a bit strange,” Kiss said. “In the last section it became really slippery and the lap times were really slow. My pole time was like a second a lap slower than the time I could do in free practice. And every turn was almost sliding everywhere so you had to back off a little bit. If you tried to push for sure then there was no grip. I try to keep it this way.”

Lukas Hahn’s father Jochen was fourth quickest with Bradley Smith and René Reinert next up. Hahn Sr, whose career CV lists six FIA ETRC titles, secured pole position for Race 1 at Misano 12 months ago in a time of 2m02.025s.
How the battle for Misano Goodyear FIA ETRC pole unfolded
Chrome driver Lukas Hahn was fastest of all in the 15-minute Q1 ahead of Norbert Kiss and Sascha Lenz with reigning Chrome champion Mark Taylor fourth and René Reinert fifth.
Hahn’s father Jochen was sixth quickest followed by Antonio Albacete, José Eduardo Rodrigues, Steffi Halm, Bradley Smith, John Newell and Steffen Faas. While these 12 drivers made it through to Q2, Jonathan André, Stefan Kursch, Luke Garrett and Clemens Hecker were unable to progress.

Smith, driving an ex-Albacete MAN was among the star performers in Q2, snatching the sixth and final place in Q3 after he demoted Halm in the closing moments of the 10-minute session.
Kiss, Jochen Hahn, Reinert, Lukas Hahn and Albacete also reached Q3 but Lenz, Rodrigues, Taylor, Newell and Faas joined Halm as the six eliminated drivers.
In the five-minute Q3 session, which decided pole position for Race 1, Kiss couldn’t be beaten in the chase for the first Goodyear FIA ETRC pole of 2026.
